Shoaib Abbasi – President, SSI
Shoaib Abbasi is the founder of Strategic Systems International (SSI) and has directed the company since its inception in 1991. Shoaib has fostered a customer-centric and excellence seeking culture at SSI, helping to create engagement models that are the foundation of long-term customer partnerships. Shoaib is a technology innovator; his expertise in mathematical optimization, analytics, and software design have enabled SSI to create and deliver truly innovative solutions and services to customers across several industries. Shoaib pioneered SSI’s corporate venturing approach where SSI partners with experienced industry veterans and technology firms to pioneer new business models and deliver SaaS products and services for target market segments.
Prior to founding SSI, Shoaib was Director of Applications Development for General Optimization Inc. where he developed decision support systems for healthcare, transportation, financial services, and manufacturing industries. He has consulted for public and private sector clients covering business strategy, planning, and operational improvement. Shoaib earned a MBA from the University of Chicago, and MS and BS degrees in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering from Cornell University.
Bernhard Schimunek – Managing Director, SSI Software Services GmbH
Bernhard Schimunek is the Managing Director of SSI SOFTWARE SERVICES GmbH (Munich, Germany). Bernhard has more than 10 years hands-on experience in business development, international project management and business unit management of technology corporations, and has profound expertise in software for advanced process control (APC) to improve process performance and productivity.
Prior to SSI, Bernard was the CEO of Business Consulting Schimunek (BCS), supporting technology companies with business development services. He also served as European Manager for the CIT (Control & Information Technology) product group of MKS Instruments. Other positions Bernard has held include Worldwide Manager for the CIT TOOLweb® Application Engineering group, COO of IPC Fab automation GmbH, and Managing Director of MKS IPC Products GmbH, a company specializing in software solutions for data integration and overall equipment efficiency improvements (OEE) for the semiconductor industry. Bernhard studied at the University of Applied Science in Augsburg where he graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering.
Shahab Ashraf – General Manager, SSI Development Operations
Shahab Ashraf is the General Manager for SSI Development Operations. Shahab joined SSI in 1999, as a principal, and helped to develop financial systems and human capital strategies and processes for the effective delivery of projects for SSI’s Fortune 500 customers. Shahab has helped to establish SSI development centers and regional offices in the US, Europe, and Asia; and has helped to establish the infrastructure for SSI’s venturing activities. As a head of operations, Shahab oversees operations, human capital, and financial management at SSI.
Prior to SSI, Shahab was working for KSB, a multinational pump manufacturing company and participated in management of the company’s marketing strategies. Shahab’s career also includes DESCON Engineering, Pakistan’s largest construction company, where he helped market construction services to clients in the petrochemical and oil & gas industries. Shahab holds a Master of Sciences Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois and a MBA from the Lahore University of Management Sciences.
Humayun Latif – Vice President Development, SSI USA
Humayun Latif is the Vice President of Software Development at SSI. Humayun has over 15 years of software industry experience where he has managed many key functions including delivery, account management, software development, and dedicated team development. He currently manages key operations at the SSI corporate office in the US including delivery, key account management, and partner relationships. Humayun also helped establish and manages SSI relationships with key clients in the financial industry. He possesses strong vision, leadership and organizational skills that foster innovation and ensure SSI’s continued success in delivering cutting edge solutions to our clients worldwide.
Prior to joining SSI, Humayun worked as a Business Analyst for an ERP software company in Montreal, Canada developing software for some of the world’s largest players in the metals processing industry. Humayun holds a Master of Sciences degree in Information Networking from Carnegie Mellon University, USA and a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce & Computer Science from McGill University, Canada.
